About David House

David House started teaching in Nautical education in 1978, after completing his sea going career in a variety of ships, inclusive of : Dry Cargo, Ro-Ro's, Container, Passenger, Reefer ships, and bulk cargoes. He retired from teaching after 33 years in maritime education, in which he was engaged in delivering all marine subjects to Navigation Officers from OOW to Master. He evolved the Senior Masters and Mates Courses from conception at the Fleetwood Nautical College in 1989, and specialised in his main disciplines of Navigation and Seamanship. He has retired from formal teaching but continues marine research and writing alongside giving private tuition in Seamanship (MCA Orals) topics inclusive of Rule of the Road and Buoyage, Emergencies, ship handling and watchkeeping activities. He is the author of the popular Seamanship Techniques and Seamanship Examiner books, having written and published sixteen (16) other titles on the following marine topics: Helicopter Operations at Sea, Cargo Work, Ship Handling, Marine Survival, Marine Ferry Transports, Navigation for Masters, Dry Docking, Ship Construction, Rigging and Heavy Lifting, Anchor Work, Command Companion, and Joint author to the Ice Navigation Manual. He continues to write and teach candidates in preparation for Oral Examinations.
