I've Written and published eighteen nautical text books on the following subjects:-
Seamanship Techniques (4th Edn) Seamanship Examiner, Navigation for Masters, Marine Ferry Transports, Helicopter Operations at Sea, Cargo Work (8th Edn), Heavy Lift & Rigging, Dry docking, Ship Construction, Marine Survival, The Command Companion, Anchor Work, and joint Author to the Ice Navigation Manual, & Marine Technology Reference Book.
Seamanship Orals inclusive of Buoyage and RoR together with General seamanship/navigation aspects related to oral examinations.
Arrangement by telephone to suit individual needs. I will visits students in the local regions of Blackpool, Fleetwood & Preston areas to deliver one to one or small group teaching. I can go farther afield but travel greater than 1 hour would be negotiable to inducement.
Came ashore to take Lecturers position at Fleetwood for 10 years, now at City of Glasgow College.
Just about all subjects upto OOW ticket, including HNC writtens, SQA writtens & MCA Orals.
I can offer support with IAMI exams having delivered hours of IAMI prep sessions. Can provide feedback on mock papers, aiding you in pin-pointing your revision prior to the exam.
I offer support with orals prep in the form of one-to-one mock orals sessions over skype.
I can also provide assistance with academic subjects such as strength of materials and engineering mechanics.

Prior to teaching I spent 22 years working in the Indian Navy leaving the service as a Commander followed by 7 years working in the Merchant Navy sailing latterly as a Captain. I have experience on bulk carriers, product tankers, general cargo ships, offshore supply vessels and missile vessels and I've spent two years in charge of Port Operations and Control at a busy port.
With extensive maritime and teaching experience I am able to teach the fundamental concepts for all subjects covered in the Nautical Science Foundation Degree and HND.
